Pakistan exit Asian table tennis event

Juniors register losses against Kazakhstan, Qatar.

Pakistan crashed out of the Asian Table Tennis Junior Championship, which is taking place in Mumbai, India, after losing their first two group matches against Kazakhstan and Qatar on Friday. The loss meant that the national players failed to qualify for the quarter-finals, as they needed at least two wins in the group stages to progress to the next round.



In the first match, Pakistan lost to Kazakhstan 3-0; Salman Virk was beaten 7-11, 9-11, 8-11 by Kirill Gerassimenko, Muhammad Rameez went down 11-6, 7-11, 3-11, 7-11 to Bekulan Zhamal and Abdul Haseeb was outplayed 11-7, 5-11, 5-11, 7-11 by Erik Raiter.

The following match saw Qatar dominating Pakistan 2-1, with Salman losing 11-9, 9-11, 7-11, 8-11 to Muhammad Abdulhussein, Haseeb surrendering 6-11, 11-5, 7-11 to Abdulaziz Jassim Abdulla and Rameez securing the lone win for Pakistan with an 8-11, 12-10, 17-15, 11-4 victory over Muhammad Sulaiti.
