Foot in mouth: Contempt petition filed against Rana Sanaullah

Petition filed against Azadi and Inqilab March.

A contempt petition against former law minister Rana Sanaullah was filed on Thursday at Lahore High Court (LHC).

Advocate Siddique, the petitioner, said the tribunal had concluded its work and had submitted its report to the government. He said Sanaullah had said that a reference would be filed against Justice Najfi at the Supreme Judicial Council. He requested the court to initiate contempt proceedings against Sanaullah.

Petition filed against Azadi, Inqilab March  Watan Party filed a petition against the Azadi and Inqilab March on Thursday at Lahore Supreme Court registry. The petitioner said the marches were illegal and unconstitutional. The petitioner said they had damaged the national economy. He requested the court to declare them illegal and unconstitutional in the larger interests of the nation.

Petition filed to relocate protestors to Islamabad Sports Complex

Muhammad Kamran, a resident of Faisalabad, filed a civil miscellaneous application at Lahore High Court to seek an order for Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf protesters to relocate to Islamabad Sports Complex. The petitioner said the marches had continued despite a Lahore High Court verdict declaring them illegal and unconstitutional.

Kamran requested the court to direct the government to take action against them if they continued protesting at the Constitution Avenue.  The petitioner said citizens had the right to protest but it should be within constitutional limits. Kamran said they should relocate to the Sports Complex to exercise their right without creating problems for the public.
