India arrests Sri Lankan for spying

India says it arrested a Sri Lankan national on charges of spying for a ‘neighbouring country’



India on Wednesday said  it had arrested a Sri Lankan national on charges of spying for a ‘neighbouring country’.



According to a statement issued by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA), Arun Selvarajan, a Sri Lankan national was arrested by the agency for his involvement in the Thameem Ansari case.

The arresting authorities claimed to have recovered two passports from Selvarajan’s possession, Indian and Sri Lankan.

He had allegedly gained access to certain vital Indian installations under the guise of managing events and then had allegedly passed on information regarding these installations using internet communication tools.
