Recent rains: Health officials to launch awareness drive

To focus on prevention of water-borne diseases in rural areas.

Health officials have decided to launch a special health education campaign in the rural areas of the capital to create awareness in the local community regarding preventive measures against common diseases in the wake of current torrential rains.


An official at the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration said 300 lady health workers will be mobilised for creating awareness in the local community for taking precautionary measures against water-borne diseases after the recent rains.

The official further informed that sanitary workers of the health office have been chlorinating water tanks and wells in the rural areas to ensure purity of drinking water. Moreover, health officials have also arranged thousands of ORS packets for distribution in the rural communities. Moreover, the health department has advised rural dwellers to use boiled drinking water, especially in the rainy season, to avoid any type of contamination.

They have also been advised to avoid eating rotten food and ensure clean environment in their surroundings.
