Policy intervention: Teacher training service begins

The Directorate of Research on Monday launched an in-service teacher training at the University of Education on Monday.
The first phase of the two-week training will include 56 college teachers teaching at bachelor’s level in various colleges across the province.
Adviser to Chief Minister Dr Zafar Ali Qureshi and Additional Secretary (Establishment) Shahid Zaman were chief guests at the inaugural session. “Teachers carry great responsibility as they command future of nations. We must empower teachers with better skills,” said Qureshi. Zaman said training teachers was a policy intervention. He said the government had allocated many resources for this purpose.
UoE Vice Chancellor Faizul Hasan said it was essential to incorporate scientific methods in teacher training to equip teachers with latest skills and methodologies.
