QUETTA: A 24-inch pipeline was blown up by militants in the Pirkoh area of the Bugti tribal territory on Monday, suspending gas supply to the main Sui plant in the area.
The banned Baloch militant group, Baloch Republican Army (BRA) has claimed responsibility for similar attacks in the past. However, no group claimed responsibility for this attack till the filing of this report.
According to police in Dera Bugti, unidentified militants planted explosive materials at the main gas pipeline in the Lunda Nullah area, which is about three kilometres away from the Dera Bugti police station.
“After the explosion, officials immediately turned off the gas supply,” an official at the police station stated.
A heavy contingent of security forces and police cordoned off the area following the explosion.
An official also said gas supply to Sindh and some areas of Balochistan has been affected due to the incident.

Rapid response to such incidents can catch people within minutes, almost red handed. No rocket science. Software can be developed that will almost precisely point out where the pipeline has been blown up (in case of terrorist act) or tampered with (in case of theft) in almost no time.
@Akhtar Baloch: If you are a Baloch then I must be Korean. Baloch people don't have gas to begin with who are you trying to fool? this gas goes to Punjab is utilized by Punjab and feeds their economy, while the Baloch people are still burning Kaher wood.
@Akhtar Baloch: Baloch have been suffering either way. Over 70% live below poverty line! over 85% don't have access to clean drinking water! education of healthcare facilities while Punjabis plunder their resources. And you still abuse them?
@Shafaq: Like Bengalis were taught?
Indian terrorists strike again. Innocent Baloch and Pashtoons of Balochistan suffer. Shame on these evil people.
Excesses committed by Punjab dominated security forces targeting Baloch origin people such as enforced disappearances, extra judicial executions, torture, custodial rape, sponsoring death squad militia’s and the like will inevitably be resisted by the freedom yearning people of Balochistan. The 700,000 Punjabi dominated occupation forces will not succeed in dousing the fire of liberation in Balochistan as indeed was the case with the erstwhile East Pakistan which forms todays Bangladesh.
India must provide fullest diplomatic and moral support to the Baloch freedom struggle. Consulates in Iran and Afghanistan must provide all necessary help.
One of the obvious deficiencies in laying pipelines in areas where militant/terrorist roam free. Something conveniently overlooked in every article discussing merits of Iranian pipeline.
These people have such a devil's mind. They are the actual terrorist of our homeland. They must be killed in a way that others might take a lesson forever.
