Action starts against 6 officials in BB case

ISLAMABAD:
As part of government's decision to launch investigations after the UN report on Benazir Bhutto's assassination, six police officials have been made Officers on Special Duty.

Their names have also been put on the Exit control list.


The officers include Rawalpindi DCO Irfan Elahi, DIG Multan Saud Aziz, former SP Yasin Farooq and SPs Khurram Shehzad and Ashfaq Anwar. The contract of DG civil defence, retired Brigadier Javed Cheema has also been cancelled.

Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira says the officers have only been made OSDs at the moment. He says further action will be taken after the government completes its investigation.

The decision to take action against the officials was taken at a meeting between the president and the prime minister.
