Special arrangement: 800 policemen deputed around town

Move comes as majority of city cops have been focused on PTI, PAT protesters

The Islamabad Police have deputed 800 policemen to patrol various areas of the city as part of special security arrangements.

This was stated by acting Inspector General of the Islamabad Police (IGP) Tahir Alam Khan while chairing a meeting held to review security arrangements and curb crime in the capital. The meeting was attended by the acting senior superintendent of police (SSP) operations and all zonal SPs and SDPOs.


The IGP assigned special duty to SP Jameel Hashmi to review the performance of these patrolling officers and expedite efforts to curb crime in the city.

Khan said that an effective strategy is vital to control crime and also ordered the adoption of a professional and responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people.


He also categorically directed attendees to focus on resolving public complaints and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens.

He directed sluggish police officials to mend their ways and ensure effective policing with efforts to provide relief to citizens and curb crime in their jurisdictions.

The IGP directed all SHOs to provide maximum relief to citizens and do not make any delay in registration of FIRs. He said police officials responsible for delaying the registration of cases and doing sluggish investigations would not be spared and strict disciplinary action would be taken against them.

Khan said that he will not tolerate corruption and will purge corrupt cops from the force. He also directed all police officials to further improve their performance and address the grievances of the masses quickly and on merit to win the confidence and support of the people.

He stressed the need for speedy disposal of cases, investigation purely on merit and the early arrest of criminals involved in various crimes. The IGP also directed the police officials to brief their staff at police pickets and to keep alert. He also directed police officials to strictly monitor ex-convicts, especially those previously convicted of car lifting.
