Taking measures: Commissioner addresses traffic woes
Meeting to review the traffic and sanitation improvement work under way on major thoroughfares.
KARACHI:
Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation administrator Rauf Akhter Farooqui have agreed to join hands in the construction of pedestrian bridges on all major thoroughfares in the city.
A meeting was held at the commissioner’s office on Tuesday to review the traffic and sanitation improvement work under way on major thoroughfares. It concluded that the project will be accomplished within a stipulated time period. Siddiqui said that the private companies involved in the construction projects of pedestrian bridges projects will be allowed to use these facilities for publicity purposes including hoardings and billboards.
He added that there was an urgent need to redress problems related to safety maintenance and other important traffic issues.
