Islamabad police: DIG operation appointed as top cop
Interior ministry appoints DIG (Operation) Tahir Alam Khan as Inspector General Islamabad police
ISLAMABAD:
The interior ministry on Monday appointed DIG (Operation) Tahir Alam Khan as Inspector General Islamabad police. Alam, who is the third top cop appointed since PTI and PAT marchers swarmed the capital, will serve as acting IG. He served as SSP Operation Islamabad and is considered as an expert in handling protests. Before Alam, Aftab Cheema was sent on forced leave after he refused to use force against the protesters. After Cheema’s departure, AIG Khalid Khattak was appointed as acting IG but his failure to control the situation forced the government to give the charge to Alam. A notification in this regard has been issued by the interior ministry.
