Enforcing the law: Police arrest 10 suspects in separate raids

An alleged street criminal was arrested in injured condition after an encounter in DHA Phase VI.

KARACHI: Over ten suspects were apprehended during separate raids and encounters in different parts of the city on Monday.

A gang of robbers was apprehended during a targeted raid in North Karachi, within the limits of Sir Syed police station. The accused were identified as Lareeb alias Kohinor, Basit, Ajmal and Shahrukh. Police officials said that the gang used to snatch and steal motorcycles from different parts of the city, adding that they had also confessed to the crimes. Weapons were also seized from their possession.

Separately, an alleged street criminal was arrested in an injured condition after an exchange of fire with the police in Defence Housing Authority (DHA). The encounter took place in DHA Phase VI, within the limits of Gizri police station. The suspect, identified as Latif Hanif, was arrested in an injured condition while his companion managed to escape under the cover of firing. Police also claim to have seized weapons from his possession.

In a separate incident, another suspect, who was later identified as 30-year-old Moin, was arrested during an encounter with the police in Macchar Colony, within the limits of Docks police station. Police officials said that the suspect, aided by his companion, was looting passersby when the encounter took place.

Separately, Aziz Bhatti police claim to have arrested a suspect, Sumair Ilyas, during an encounter near Hassan Square within the limits of Aziz Bhatti police station.

In another raid, three more alleged criminals, identified as Amir Hamza, Abdul Wahid and Yousuf, were arrested during a raid in Rasheedabad, within the limits of Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police station.
