Angry protestors : MPA’s office attacked

Jameel says a mob broke windows and damaged office furniture.

FAISALABAD:
The office of provincial assembly member Mian Tahir Jameel was attacked allegedly by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers late on Sunday night.

Talking to The Express Tribune MPA Mian Tahir Jameel, who was also the president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Youth Wing said on Sunday night PTI workers staged a demonstration in support of their leader’s demands.

He said the protestors marched on various city roads and attacked his office when they were passing by.

He said the attackers were carrying clubs, batons, rods and hockey sticks.

He said they damaged office furniture, shattered windows and tore down posters.

He said the protestors had also broke windows of vehicles parked near the office and pelted attacked a shop near Gaushala More with stones.

He said when he heard news of the attack, him and State Minister for Water and Power Chaudhary Abid Sher Ali and workers of the PML-N Youth Wing reached at the scene but by that at time, they had dispersed.


Jameel said Sher Ali had advised the youth wing activists to remain peaceful.

He said the minister added that FIR against the attackers would be lodged.

He said the city administration should take action against those responsible.

Faisalabad police on Monday said nearly two dozen PTI activists had been detained from various parts of the city.

The police also detained 10 activists of Pakistan Awami Tehreek.
