Gold, cash stolen: Residents protest against police

Unidentified thieves entered the houses belonging to three brothers late on Sunday night when the families were away.

Residents staged a protest demonstration on Monday in Bahawalpur’s Islami Colony after thieves stole cash and valuables from three houses.


Unidentified thieves entered the houses belonging to three brothers late on Sunday night when the families were away. They picked the locks and took away gold, cash and other valuables.

Maqsood Hussain Bajwa told reporters that thieves broke into the houses at 4am that were adjacent.

“They stole seven tolas gold and Rs62,000 cash from my home. From my brother Manzoor’s house, they took six tolas gold and Rs265,000 cash. From Ayub’s house, they took five tolas gold and Rs85,000 cash,” Bajwa said.

The families held Baghdadul Jadeed police responsible for the theft and threatened to block Yazman Road if the thieves were not arrested.
