SUKKUR:

A free medical camp was organised by the Hindu Panchayat in Sukkur on Friday to provide medical treatment to the needy. The Panchayat has been regularly organising free medical camps for many years. Hundreds of patients were checked and given free medicines, and general physicians and specialists were present to provide free consultations for conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension and skin diseases.

Mukhi Eshwar Lal Makhija, the president of the Sukkur Hindu Panchayat, said that around 400 patients had been helped in the camp. He said that rising prices meant that the poor and even people from the lower-middle class and the middle class could not afford doctors’ fees or medicines. The Panchayat had therefore decided to organise the regular camp to help them. Makhija added that they had also been running a medical dispensary for the past 25 years, providing free consultations and medicines throughout the year.
