Representing Pakistan: President in Turkey as PM Nawaz cancels visit

President Mamnoon says Pakistan attaches high priority to its special and strategic relations with Turkey

President Mamnoon Hussain reached Turkey on Thursday for a two-day trip to represent Pakistan at the inauguration of president-elect Recep Tayyip Erdogan.


The president was received by chairman of Turkey-Pakistan parliamentary friendship group in the Turkish Grand National Assembly Burhan Kayaturk, deputy governor Ankara, garrison commander and other high-ranking officials.

Speaking on the occasion, President Mamnoon said that Pakistan attached, high priority to its special and strategic relations with Turkey which are based on mutual trust, respect and understanding.

“Coming to Turkey is like coming home”, the president said and expressed hope that his visit would reinforce efforts for closer bilateral cooperation.
