LHC orders police to remove containers
Earlier this month, all entrances to Islamabad were blocked with a total of 900 containers
Lahore High Court ordered Punjab police on Wednesday to remove containers blocking all boulevards in the twin cities.
Hearing the petition filed by District Bar Association president Raja Nasir Mehmood, Justice Tariq Abbasi directed that all the roads leading to Islamabad and Rawalpindi should be cleared.
He also directed that a report be submitted before him. The high court observed that free movement was every citizen’s right and it should not be infringed by putting up containers on the roads.
It is pertinent to note that the government had blocked all the boulevards because of the sit-ins staged by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek.
Earlier this month, all entrances to Islamabad were blocked with a total of 900 containers.
