Ready to provide proof of Pak ‘meddling’: Kabul
Afghanistan to approach UN to halt cross-border attacks
ISLAMABAD:
Afghanistan is ready to provide “evidence to Pakistan about its flagrant interference” in the country’s affairs if it intends to sincerely fight against terrorism, Afghan officials said on Wednesday.
Kabul is expected to approach the United Nations to seek international support in efforts to halt cross-border attacks, Afghan media has reported.
The recommendations will be made on the sidelines of the UN’s General Assembly meeting scheduled to take place in three weeks, Tolo TV reported on Wednesday.
Quoting the ministry of foreign affairs, the report said the Afghan government will ask UN to put pressure on Pakistan to stop all “rocket and artillery fire into Afghanistan” particularly Kunar province.
The Afghan spy agency alleged that “Pakistan has increased interference in Afghanistan’s internal affairs to create uncertainty about the political future of the country.”
“We have evidence about the involvement of Pakistani security agencies,” spokesman for Afghanistan’s intelligence agency, NDS, Haseeb Siddiqi told a news conference in Kabul.
Siddiqi claimed that Pakistan has now changed its policy in Afghanistan and wants to spread “mistrust among Afghans about their future.”
“Afghanistan has evidence and documents that Pakistani institutions have now taken the lead of fighting in our country,” the NDS spokesman said.
