Released: LHC seeks details on ex-Bagram detainees
Counsel for the JPP said the authorities had refused to reveal the whereabouts of the released persons
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court on Wednesday sought a reply from the Ministry of Interior on a petition filed by the families of nine Pakistani citizens recently repatriated from Bagram Prison in Afghanistan.
Justice Project Pakistan, a non-profit law firm, filed the petition on behalf of the families saying nine Pakistani detainees had recently been released from Bagram Prison and handed to local authorities.
Counsel for the JPP said the authorities had refused to reveal the whereabouts of the released persons and were not allowing them to meet their families. The lawyer asked the court to direct the ministry to file details on the present status of the persons.
The nine released are Abdul Nabi, Sadar Muhammad, Zabet, Imran, Muhammad Iqbal, Imtiaz Khan, Shoaib Khan, Latifullah, Imranul Hassan. Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Naqvi adjourned hearing for next week.
