Nasir advances to squash semi-finals
Top seed faces Fareed in last four for place in decider.
KARACHI:
Top seed Nasir Iqbal moved into the semi-finals of the $10,000 Hashim Khan Memorial Tournament by beating Yasir Ali Butt 3-1 in their last-eight clash in Peshawar on Tuesday.
Nasir faced little trouble during the match, eventually winning with scores of 11-8, 11-7, 7-11 and 11-4 in the match which lasted for 80 minutes.
He will now take on Ammad Fareed for a place in the final, while the other semi-final will see Farhan Zaman and Danish Atlas Khan go head to head.
In a clash of unseeded participants, Fareed got the better of in-form Ali Bokhari with a stunning comeback as he won 3-2 despite initially trailing.
Bokhari, who had earlier defeated Asian Champion Aamir Atlas Khan, started off brightly as he went 1-0 up. However, he was checked by Fareed’s fightback as the latter won two consecutive sets to overturn the deficit which eventually propelled him to win 4-11, 11-2, 11-8, 10-12 and 11-4.
