Roof collapse: Farmer seeks compensation after mishap

Thousands of broilers perished when the roof of a poultry farm caved in on Monday. According to an application filed to Haripur’s deputy commissioner by poultry farm owner Gulzeb Khan, the roof of two sheds in his farm in Kholian Bala village collapsed two days back, reportedly killing two flocks of 6,000 broilers that were ready for retail. The owner said he sustained a loss of hundreds of thousands of rupees. Khan added the recent rainfall had caused cracks in the roof that resulted in the mishap. Urging authorities to provide him financial compensation, he said the farm was his sole source of income.
