Notice says accused are in hiding after committing the crime
ISLAMABAD:
A special anti-terrorism court in Gilgit Baltistan (G-B) has ordered Geo/Jang Group’s CEO Mir Shakilur Rehman, anchor Shaista Lodhi, actress Veena Malik and her husband Asad Bashir Khattak to appear before the court on September 1 at 8:30 am. According to a notice published in newspapers, the court has summoned the accused under article 293-A/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code in connection with a case filed at City Chilas police station. The notice says that the accused are in hiding after committing the crime. It warns that the court will initiate unilateral proceedings against them after recording the complainant’s evidences if they fail to appear before the court on the appointed date. This notice has been issued by the special court of justice Raja Shahbaz Khan. Dozens of blasphemy cases were lodged against Geo over a controversial episode of morning show ‘Uto Jago Pakistan’.
