RAWALPINDI:
Two persons were killed and a woman was forced to drink acid in twin cities during the last 24 hours, police sources said.

A 20-year-old man was shot dead by unknown persons in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

According to police, the victim, who is yet to be identified, was on his way home when unidentified armed assailants opened fire at him near Ayub Park.

Passers-by shifted him to the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital but he died on the way before being provided medical aid.

The deceased was shot in the face, said an official who is investigating the case.

The local police are looking for the deceased’s family.

In another incident, a mutilated body of a man was recovered from a drain in Kahuta, police said.

A man walking in the area spotted a body floating over the drain water and informed the local police who shifted it to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) hospital Kahuta.

According to preliminary investigation, the deceased in his 40s had been tortured to death.

Separate cases have been registered under the relevant laws.

Meanwhile, a man was booked for allegedly beating and forcing his wife to drink acid over a family dispute in Wah Saddar.

Haji Ramzan approached the local police that his son-in-law, Qamar Nawaz, along with his family members had allegedly beaten up his daughter, Naureen and forced her to drink acid with the intention to kill her.

He further said his daughter had married to Nawaz some two years back and soon after their marriage the couple developed differences. On Sunday, Nawaz informed him on telephone that Naureen has consumed poison. However, when he reached the hospital, the doctors told him that she has tried to drink acid.
