FY14: Halal meat export fetches $230.2m
The export of Halal meat during fiscal year 2012-13 was $211.1 million

Halal meat export fetched foreign exchange of $230.2 million during 2013-14, showing almost a nine percent increase as compared to the last fiscal year. The export of Halal meat during fiscal year 2012-13 was $211.1 million. Officials at the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics said the export of other food items contributed $4.39 billion in FY14. It said the export value of some food items including rice, fish, fruits and oil seed increased whereas export value of vegetables, tobacco, wheat, sugar, spices went down. With regard to measures adopted to increase export of meat and food, they said that the Economic Coordination Committee imposed a ban on commercial export of live animals from the country. The Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Company conducted trainings and seminars for capacity building of growers, processors and exporters and provided support to the industry for country specific Sanitary and Phytosanitary compliance.
