Hussain filed the petition against the police and the landlord for terrorising the family and abducting his wife.
DERA GHAZI KHAN:
A Jampur justice of peace on Monday ordered the police to find a woman who was allegedly kidnapped on her wedding day and arrest her abductors.
The judge issued the orders on Muhammad Hussain’s petition. Hussain said he had married Zarina Akhtar on Saturday. He said when he was bringing her to his house in Shah Jamal with his family, Aijaz Ahmad, a local landlord stopped the wedding party near Muhib Shah and took away the bride at gunpoint.
He said Ahmad had been invited to his wedding as a guest. He said the man was apparently inebriated at the time. He said Ahmad threatened his family of dire consequences if they tried to rescue the bride.
Hussain said he approached the police on Sunday to lodge a complaint against the landlord but they did not take him seriously. He claimed that later on Sunday evening, some policemen visited his family at their home and harassed them. Hussain filed the petition against the police and the landlord for terrorising the family and abducting his wife.
The sessions judge issued orders to the police to find the bride and arrest her abductors.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Mian Ramazan, the groom’s father, said the nikah had been solemnised last year and the bride’s reception had been planned for Saturday.
He said the landlord was apparently in love with his daughter-in-law and had threatened her family against marrying her off. Talking to The Express Tribune, Nazim Mumtaz Ahmad Hamdani, a brother of the suspect, denied the allegations. He said his brother had gone to the wedding and had returned before it was over. He said apparently there was an argument between the groom and the bride’s brother. He said the bride had got angry and left with her brother.
