Three injured in blast on Rawalpindi-bound Jaffer Express

Security forces have cordoned off the railway station

SIBI:
A remote-controlled bomb exploded inside a compartment of the Quetta-Rawalpindi passenger train Jaffar Express at Sibi railway station Monday afternoon.

Three people were reportedly injured in the blast but were discharged after getting first aid. However, no loss of life was reported.
According to Sibi police, an improvised explosive device (IED) was planted inside the bathroom of the air-conditioned apartment of coach number 8 of Jaffar Express.

The blast damaged the bathroom of the compartment and caused panic among the passengers, who started running aimlessly.

“It was a remote controlled IED. Less than half kilogrammes of explosive material was used in the bombing,” District Police Officer, Anwar Khithran told reporters, adding “No loss of life was reported in the attack.”Police and security forces cordoned off the area after the bombing.

The passenger train left for its destination after security clearance.
Passenger trains are frequently attacked at Sibi Railway Station by Baloch militants. At least 16 people were killed in a deadly bombing on April 8 targeting Jaffar Express.

BRA claims responsibility
Banned Baloch Republican Army (BRA) claimed the responsibility for attacking the passenger train.
Spokesperson for BRA Sarbaz Baloch called Quetta Press Club and said his organisation carried out the attack.
