Sit-ins continue: PTI protests spread across the city
Supporters standing against deprivation of their rights, say party leaders.
KARACHI:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters and activists staged token protests in various parts of the metropolis on Sunday, extending their support to the demands made by PTI chairman Imran Khan in the ongoing sit-in in Islamabad.
The protests in Karachi, starting from just one held in the Clifton area, have now spread all over the city. PTI supporters staged sit-ins at various points in Karachi, including al Asif Square, Sharae Pakistan, Main Habib Bank Chowrangi, SITE and Sea View, on Sunday evening to express solidarity with Imran.
Shouting slogans against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the protestors called for the removal of Nawaz Sharif's government. They raised placards supporting Imran Khan and called on the prime minister to concede to their chairman's demands.
Meanwhile, PTI leaders, including Subhan Ali Sahil, Kamran Rajput and MPA Hafeezuddin, said that their supporters were not only standing against rigging in last year's elections, but also against a system where they were being deprived of their rights.
"Imran Khan is struggling to cleanse the country of corruption by putting honest, educated people in the government and holding everyone accountable for their acts of exploitation," they explained. They further said that the country's faith in governance depends upon Imran Khan.
