Securing support: Civil disobedience call lacks popular support says Bhutta

LAHORE:

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Naseer Bhutta said on Saturday that the legal community had rallied behind Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

He said lawyers had rejected the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s (PAT) demand for prime minister’s resignation. Bhutta was speaking to lawyers at the sessions court complex on the invitation of the PML-N Lawyers’ Forum. He said it was ironic that those who had been flouting the constitution were speaking about the supremacy of the law. Bhutta said evidence regarding alleged electoral rigging should be presented before the parliament or a tribunal. He said some political forces had been conspiring to derail democracy.
