Fellowship programme: 14 NUML students off to America

The scholars will proceed to UNT under the Research Fellowship Programme.

A group of 14 selected scholars of the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) will proceed to the US on August 25 to participate in a two-month research fellowship programme at the University of North Texas (UNT).



At a ceremony here, Rector Maj Gen (retd) Masood Hasan and Registrar Brig (retd) Saeed Akhtar Malik handed over tickets and health insurance cards to three male and 11 female PhD and MPhil scholars. The scholars will proceed to UNT under the Research Fellowship Programme which is part of a three-year academic partnership between the two universities to promote research and academic culture through exchange programmes.

The NUML rector said it was a golden opportunity for the scholars to learn and assimilate the latest research and pedagogic practices at UNT to applying at classes here.

“You would be representatives of your culture, society and nation and it is up to you that how you make them to see your country through your eyes,” he said. Malik said the fellowship would provide them an opportunity to tap a huge source of research database and material available at the UNT to bring substantial improvement and give a broader prospect to their research papers.

Saba Zara, a scholar proceeding to the UNT, said that being from a far-flung area of Balochistan, it was an achievement for her to reach achieve the fellowship. “The fellowship has provided me new avenues of opportunities and potentials.”
