The resolution was passed by Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Saeed Ghani.
On Thursday, the National Assembly voted down two key demands of anti-government protesters, namely Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation and the dissolution of legislative assemblies.
The House admitted an adjournment motion to discuss the storming of the Parliament by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek supporters on Thursday.
"Babar said it is unprecedented that protesters block the entrance of the Parliament," Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Farhatullah Babar said, opening the session.
Babar also had a few harsh words to say about the "abusive language" used by party leaders against the Parliament and elected representatives, referring to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.
“This onslaught on the parliament cannot be allowed and the house should take notice of the situation,” said Babar, adding “stick wielding people cannot be allowed to take political decisions on the roads”.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement Senator Tahir Hussain Mashadi emphasised that dialogue is the only democratic means to end the current political crisis.
Mashadi also appreciated the government’s "restraint". He said that while protesting is the democratic right of citizens, the sanctity of the Parliament should not be compromised.
Earlier on Thursday, Pakistan Awami Tehreek chairman Tahirul Qadri issued a statement to his supporters that no one should be allowed to go in or out of Parliament House. His supporters had blocked the front entrance to the parliament, making it inaccessible.

@Sara: Amen to your post. Those who ridicule the senate are talking against federation. Even if the last elections were bogus the senate is based upon previous elections that everybody accepted as they were under army and Gen Mush. Trashing and institution like senate of the country by eternal losers who have no seats in the senate is shameful and unpatriotic. As senate is equal representative of each province losers like PTI and Qadri cannot have majority in the senate in any election. They have no presence in two out of four provinces. Regards, M
@Samia @Adeel-Pervaiz
PML-N has been in government for more than a decade and they have a much better insight about the system then you and me or IK or TUQ. You can very well see how IK has miserably failed in KPK given the fact that KPK would had progressed under PTI albeit IK has other intentions.
I'm a doctorate and I'm much better statistician and ofcourse way better engineer than IK. There is no corruption charge against me, but that doesn't mean that I should rule the state of Pakistan. I still believe PML-N has a better team than IK to take Pakistan out of the current chaotic state. Prove me wrong otherwise by stating the team performance of PTI till now.
Parliament is supreme but when is the question? When someone is elected fraudulently then where is the supremacy? Our elections are always rigged-the stronger and wealthier prevails over his opponents so we do not get true public representation and if it is not truly representative then it is not parliament in the truest sense. Alas! Our parliament is anything other than parliament. Iqbal Hadi Zaidi
Supermacy of parliament comes from the strentgh of peoples representatives elected by people. This parliament is water being reflection of sand in the desert of deceit and deception. The true elected representstives are out on street and fruit of deception now constitutes the parliament. Does not matter how many resolutions you pass to assert and preserve your imterests, it is still s body of poluted water not worthy to drink. As such this parliament lacks its legality and constitutionality not worthy of respect notwithstanding that a dozen or more or less are fake reps. A little poison pollutes the whole pond. It must be emptied, throughly cleaned and disinfected to mske fit for consumption,
Does PTI have anything better to do than whining and complaining. You've complained about almost everyone starting from Opposition, ECP, Judiciary, Military, Police, USA, CDA, Lawyers etc. Whining doesnt win votes delivering does.
@Blithe: Someone rightly said "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance".
Imran, though, have got very good JAZBA and Janun which can be well used for making the country progressive, But the way he is handling and taking turns in the current movement, it is really frustrating. The general impression about his capabilities to think and make good decisions has now become very questionable. He is not showing a quality of a great leader. Statements coming from National Assebly and Senate are reflection of such stubborness. He must respect the constitution and play an aggressive role in the assembly instead of sitting quite there and speaking on the streets. He has thrown enough weight now and must end this episode. Business is getting affected to a large extent and sanity must prevail now. let us give a tough time to institutions to work professionally. Courts should be pursued and assembly floor should be used to prove the government wrong, if they are really wrong. To be player, Umpire and fieldor/bowler all in one is not appreciable. Imran should improve his vision and comprehension to avoid balming others for his own misjudgement. He must see around well now so that he does not get a chance after 6 months to say that the persons around him were not sincere and defrauded him, as he is saying now that Chief, Musharraf, Election Commission(all) deceived him.
Well, I can smell a rat here, These Senators and Parliamentarians are not saving democracy but saving their life long corruptions charges by employing these resolutions, because they know if IK will come, he will empower NAB, FIA, And police to investigate corruptions and crimes without any political influence and this will clearly dig their graves, so that is why they are had joint hands against imran khan, nothing else. we know how much they hate each others by hear, but this time their interest is same to SAVE THEIR LIVES, and Looted Money.
These parlimanterians and senetors are not so sure if parliament is supreme and that is why they are passing resolutions everyday to convince themselves. Pl ask people of this country if this parlaiment with these parliamentrians is supreme or not and I can assure you their answer will be in negative and PM which was no whwere to be seen in last 14 months is in paliament everyday to look after himself and his lot.
@Samia: SPOT ON........well said.
Parliament IS supreme and no one , especially a narcissist with just a handful of seats from KPK , can challenge the state and parliament .
