PESHAWAR: A decision has been made to change the training curriculum for new police recruits to bring it at par with modern needs. The decision was taken in a policy board meeting chaired by IGP Nasir Durrani at the Central Police Office. “The introduction of new modules for physical and theoretical training is need of the hour to make the police a modern force which can fulfil all expectations of the general public,” said IGP Nasir Khan Durrani. Once finalised, the training module will be introduced at the police training college in Hangu. “Policemen must learn other techniques like martial arts, fighting without arms as well as swimming to make them physically and mentally fit,” added the IGP. The meeting was attended by additional IGPs, DIGs and others. It was also decided to train new recruits in anti-riot skills as well as search and rescue techniques in case of calamities. Modules in gender-sensitive policing, human rights, and use of IT will be included.
