Pakistan dominate Asian snooker team event
Defending champions record six wins on day one.
Defending champions Pakistan got off to a fine start by registering six wins against different opponents on the opening day of the Asian Team Snooker Championship taking place in Karachi.
The event started on Thursday at the end of the individual variant of the championship that concluded a day earlier.
Pakistan reeled off four consecutive wins in the morning session, defeating Thailand 3-2, Qatar 3-1, Singapore 3-2 and Bahrain 3-0. The victories against Thailand and Singapore were hard-fought, while Qatar and Bahrain were brushed aside comfortably.
In the second session of the day, the momentum built in the morning was sustained easily by Pakistan as they routed Qatar 3-0.
Meanwhile, Syria failed to launch a substantial challenge against the rampaging hosts, surrendering 3-1. Neighbours India lost to Iran 3-0, but recorded wins against Singapore 3-0 and Afghanistan 3-1 in the first two sessions.
