The neutral side: Find solution before a mishap, says JI chief

Leaders call PTI, PAT to come forward for talks

PESHAWAR:

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq warned on Wednesday that any unconstitutional step would further destablise the country which is already facing an economic setback for the last few days.

Talking to journalists at the party’s provincial secretariat, Markaz Islami, Peshawar, Haq said though the situation was emotional it was necessary that decisions were taken practically.

“We should try to find a solution to the issue before any mishap,” Haq said urging that the involvement of foreign elements should not be ruled out because of which it’ll take time for the dust to settle.

He explained that the current situation was a result of incompetence of political parties.

“Survival will become difficult if we do not show tolerance for each other,” Haq said, adding that all parties should work towards finding a solution to the matter otherwise a trend of ousting the government with the use of force will be set.

He asked PTI and PAT to come forward to negotiate. In response to a question the JI ameer said that his party was not in favour of PTI’s decision to dissolve assemblies.

Supporting the ameer’s call, separately, JI’s provincial ameer Professor Ibrahim Khan said they would not accept any unconstitutional and undemocratic step.

Professor Ibrahim said that the central and provincial assemblies should be given the chance to complete their tenure.

Addressing an emergency meeting of the party’s lawmakers he said, “K-P assembly should not be dissolved while JI is part of the provincial government”.

The JI leader stressed that under the current circumstances when Pakistan was carrying out an operation in North Waziristan and there is an influx of displaced persons from the region the provincial assembly should not be dissolved.

Meanwhile, opposition parties in K-P formally tabled a no-confidence move against Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in the PA secretariat on Tuesday.

For this purpose, legislators of the opposition parties— JUI-F, PPP, PML-N, ANP and QWP— at a joint meeting, agreed on the no-confidence motion against the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government and also submitted requisition for convening the assembly session.
