Of protests and rallies: Nationalists say Azaadi march has nothing to do with Sindh
The two parties were accused of not taking Sindhis on board when they decided to launch their movements.
HYDERABAD:
Despite tall claims made by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Sindhi nationalists believe that there is no connection between the anti-government protests in Islamabad and the people of Sindh.
The two parties were accused of not taking Sindhis on board when they decided to launch their movements. Sindhi Taraqi Pasand’s Dr Qadir Magsi said that they will not let PAT’s Tahirul Qadri divide the existing four provinces into 23. He added that Qadri was a foreign citizen and was talking about breaking up the provinces along ethnic lines. “The sons of the soils have been foiling these conspiracies for a long time,” he said. “We will fight against such a move with a renewed resolve.”
Dr Magsi complained that when the people of Sindh and Balochistan demand their rights, they are called as traitors. He added that when ‘thespian’ leaders revolt in the country’s capital they are offered dialogue.
Ayaz Palijo, the president of Awami Tehreek, said leaders like Khan Ghaffar Khan, Ghaus Bux Bizenjo, Rasool Bux Palijo, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Ataullah Mengal and Hyder Bux Jatoi struggled throughout their lives for democracy and rights of provinces.
