Police recovered 600 stolen sacks of flour originally meant for people displaced from North Waziristan
BANNU:
Police recovered 600 stolen sacks of flour originally meant for people displaced from North Waziristan and arrested the driver of the truck smuggling the goods from Peshawar. Bannu DPO Abdur Rashid said they set up check posts at all entry and exit points of the district based on an intelligence report, adding that when pulled over, the truck driver told the police he was carrying sacks of wheat bran. However, a search revealed 600 sacks of flour with ‘not for sale’ written on the packaging. Rashid said the flour had been donated by the World Food Programme for IDPs seeking shelter in Bannu but was being smuggled to be sold. Rahim Shah, the driver, was arrested and his vehicle was impounded.
