MANSEHRA: Three children, including two sisters, drowned in a pond, locals said on Tuesday. Noor Wali, a resident of Basti Sher Khan, told the media Jehandad Khan’s daughters Khadija, 10, and Aisha, 12, and their cousin Khushal, 10, were returning from school when Khushal accidentally slipped into a pond. Khadija and Aisha jumped in to rescue him but all three children drowned. Mine workers nearby said they pulled out the bodies of the deceased children, adding all of them had passed away before medical assistance could be provided. Wali said the pond formed after people were digging for soapstone a few months ago. City police, meanwhile, said they have no knowledge of the incident as the family has not yet registered an FIR.
