Bilateral trade: KPCCI chief, Iranian consul general eye joint banking system

Both Shinwari and Wand agreed to bring the private sectors of the two countries closer

PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI) and the Iranian consulate general have agreed to establish a banking system between the two countries in order to further strengthen the economic relationship and boost bilateral trade.

During his visit to the KPCCI office on Monday, Iranian Consul General Hasan Darvaish Wand met KPCCI President Zahidullah Shinwari and other senior traders of the province.

Both Shinwari and Wand agreed to bring the private sectors of the two countries closer and to facilitate traders for better linkages.

Wand said the volume of trade between Pakistan and Iran is even less than the trade between Iran and Afghanistan. He cited hurdles at the government level as the reason for this.

KPCCI President Zahidullah Shinwari stressed the need for exchanging maximum number of delegations and encouraging Iranians to invest in Pakistan.
