Capital’s schools: Summer vacations extended till Aug 25

A one-week extension has been ordered in the summer vacations.

ISLAMABAD:

The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) for the second time extended summer vacations for another week owing to the ongoing political rallies in the capital.

According to the public relations officer of CADD Minister of State Barrister Usman Ibrahim, a one-week extension has been ordered in the summer vacations.

The educational institutes were supposed to open on August 11 but the protests by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf  (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) forced them to review the decision.

The decision was not only taken due to the virtual deadlock in a part of the city, but also because 24 schools and colleges are occupied by Punjab, Azad Jammu Kashmir police officials and Pakistan Rangers.

An official of the Federal Directorate of Education said unless the buildings of schools and colleges are vacated by law-enforcing agencies, no dates can be for certain.

Varsities to remain open

International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI)’s spokesperson Hairan Khattak said the university will remain open on Monday and entry tests for several programmes will be held as per schedule.

The federal Urdu university will also remain open while the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) will also carry out its academic activities. Since the session is off till September at National University of Science and Technology (NUST), only the administration and faculty will be present at the campus.

Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) is likely to remain closed due to the closure
of main entry points from the capital near Bhara Kahu and Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
