KARACHI: Six people were killed in Karachi in two seperate incidents of firing as two bodies were recovered from Lyari on Wednesday.

The shooting incidents took place in Baldia and Alfalah Towns in the latest incidents of violence in the city.

SP Layari, Rana Pervaiz confirmed that two bodies were recovered from Baba Bhatt Shah Shrine in the Kala Kot Area.

A thirty year old was also killed in Khadda Market area on Wednesday.

Two others lost their lives in Ibrahim Haideri and Sohrab Goth areas.

Police claim these people were kidnapped by the notorious Noor Mohamad, alias Baba Ladla.

Four unidentified gunmen opened fire in Baldia Town killing two people on the spot while another person succumbed to injuries on his way to the hospital according to the DIG Investigation.

Another person identified as a political worker was also shot dead in a separate shooting incident in the Millat Town area of Karachi.

Police sources have attributed the killings to old enmities.

Meanwhile, tensions continue to escalate, as both Baba Ladla's and Rehman Dacoit's groups remain deeply embroiled in a property issue, due to which all markets, shops, schools and colleges in Lyari and adjacent areas remain closed.

In 2010 alone, there have been more than a 1,000 people killed in the city so far. CPLC’s records show that this is the  highest number of target killings since 1995.
