According to an ISPR press release, the army chief visited PAF Base Samungli and Khalid Aviation Base in Quetta on Saturday.
He commended the soldiers on thwarting a terror attack. He also appreciated the local population for their cooperation in informing and encircling the terrorists who wanted to attack the two airbases.
The COAS said the entire nation had rejected terrorism and wanted to get rid of all terrorists. He vowed that a united approach including the whole nation and the security forces will eventually eliminate terrorism and ensure durable peace in Balochistan and the rest of the country.
Between the night of August 13 and 14, as many as 12 armed militants had tried storm the two airbases in Quetta, but the attack was thwarted by security forces, who suffered as many as 11 injuries.
The COAS later visited the Combined Military Hospital in Quetta and met the injured security officials and inquired after their health.
Along with Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, Gen Sharif then visited Southern Command Quetta Headquarters. Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Nasser Khan Janjua gave detailed briefing on the overall law and order situation in the province.
The chief minister appreciated the Army’s efforts for stability and development of the province.
Gen Sharif said the Army will continue playing its role in the area.

The recent attacks in Quetta (Samungli airbase and Khalid military airbase) show the terrorists remain focused on destabilizing the region. The TTP have claimed responsibility for the attacks, and this is not the first time they have unraveled their terrorist agenda. Terrorist organizations like the TTP have long been focused on working against our (Pakistan and U.S.) peace objectives in the region. Unfortunately for them, the people of the region have rejected their evil ideology and the TTP are no longer able to manipulate people into believing that they are fighting for a cause. Incidents like these also prove that conspiracy theorists have no excuse or reason to support conspiracy theories. We have always emphasized shared cooperation between our nations, and it is simply imperative for our nations to remain unified against those who pose a threat to the safety of our nations. We certainly hope to work together and remain confident of achieving our common objectives through mutual cooperation.

Collective effort means collective efforts of those who suffer most, yet are always least active in coming together to eradicate every kind of suffering they endure. These are the people at large. Every trouble they suffer is all because of their inaction. Thees are the very same people who have been blessed by people like poet, thinker and philosopher Mohd. Iqbal who advised people to come together to unite and work to get rid of all sorts of vices including corruption and other lawlessness. He said " Rubt say hay millut qaaem furday tunhah kuchh naheen Moj hay duryah kay under bairoonay duryah kuchh naheen". Which means that the nation is nation only by coming together just like the torrent inside the river whereas outside river there is none. The torrent in the river is possible just because the mass of water coming together. He urged people to come together to unite to create Peoples' Collective, Peoples' Jameeyah so that people coming together to work responsibly could be like the torrent created by the massive amount of water coming together in the river. Without coming together people are nothing just like there is nothing outside the river.

What about the nation that includes religio-political parties that are 'hand in glove' with the terrorists (men and nations) in their macabre activities ? Answer: Let the Federal Interior ministry issue a notification naming these parties and the names and fotos of undesirable persons needing to be arrested and handed over to the Army for CORRECTION. No sir, terrorism will be eliminated as soon as you stop classifying them as good or bad terrorists. Stop using them as your instrument, it's time to let them go. Pakistani awam deserves peace and prosperity. And you will be also doing this sub continent a huge favor.
