Did you know? Midnight Rider’s production country accused of manslaughter

After a crew member’s death was reported on the sets of Midnight Rider based on the life of rock singer Gregg Allman, federal security officials have quoted the production company for bearing responsibility of putting its workers to life-taking risk. Camera assistant Sarah Elizabeth Jones, 27, was killed and eight crew members were injured in Georgia. It is reported that the accident took place when an approaching train tore through the set while they were fixing equipment to film on live train tracks near Savannah in February.

The incident has generated an awareness campaign regarding film crew safety measures on the sets in Hollywood. The campaign accuses Randall Miller, his wife and Jody Savin for unintentional manslaughter. They have still not pleaded guilty to the charges. The citation also demands a penalty of $74,900 and permits the company 15 days to challenge the accusation.


“It is unacceptable that Film Allman LLC knowingly exposed their crew to moving trains while filming on a live track and railroad trestle,” David Michaels, Assistant Secretary of Labour for Occupational Safety and Health, said in a statement. REUTERS
