Joint raids: Three gang members killed in encounters

Both raids took place on Thursday in Lyari and Old City areas.

KARACHI:
Three alleged members of the Lyari gang war were killed in two separate encounters with the police and Rangers in parts of District South on Thursday.

Both the encounters took place early on Thursday when the police and Rangers conducted joint raids at the hideouts of the gangsters in Lyari and Old City areas.

The Baghdadi police reported that the first encounter took place at Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Road, Lyari. According to the police officials, an exchange of fire ensued in which two alleged gangsters were killed. The bodies were taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi, where they were later identified as Shoaib Baloch and Abdul Samad Baloch.


Sources in the police told The Express Tribune that the deceased gangsters belonged to the Uzair Baloch group’s faction operated by Majid Baloch. They were wanted by the police in various cases of crime. The cases were registered and further investigations are under way.

Separately, another encounter took place in the Old City within the limits of the Kharadar police station. Police officials claimed an alleged gangster was killed during an exchange of fire. The body was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi, where he was later identified as Saleem Baloch aka TT. According to sources in the police, the deceased was associated with the Amin Buledi group of Lyari gangsters. Besides involvement in various cases of crime, he was also part of the abduction and killing of Crime Investigation Department officer ASI Raja Arshad.
