En route: Twelve picnickers kidnapped

HANGU: Twelve people en route from Kohat to Hangu for a picnic were kidnapped by unidentified persons on Thursday. The picnickers were on the way to the scenic Samana area of Hangu on Independence Day when they were abducted, said the SHO of Obleya Mena police station, Gulzar Khan. “They were travelling in a pickup when they were stopped at Injeer Patai area of the district by armed persons,” he added. No one had claimed responsibility for the kidnapping till this report was filed. A search operation was subsequently launched by police and security forces in the area.
