SHABQADAR: The National Book Foundation (NBF) plans to continue Independence Day celebrations well past August 14 and has organised a mega book fair at which students from Fata will receive a discount of up to 50%. The Kitab Mela, held in collaboration with Staff Welfare Organisation Islamabad, will run from August 26 to August 31 at the Aabpara Community Centre in the federal capital. NBF K-P Director Murad Ali Mohmand said the aim of the fair was to promote better reading habits among people in every nook and corner of the country. He added prominent personalities will attend as chief guests for most days of the event. Mohmand said the organisation wanted to celebrate Independence Day by providing readers with literature on the historic event and give people from different fields the opportunity to interact with literary figures. He said the NBF Peshawar office has also planned a book fair at its own office in Hayatabad. The director said a 50% discount would be offered on specific books and urged students from Fata to come and avail this opportunity.
