Govt committing contempt of court by not removing barricades: Tahirul Qadri

Our march will be peaceful and per the Constitution and its purpose is to enforce the Constitution, says PAT chief.

Addressing a press conference at Minhajul Quran Secretariat in Lahore on Wednesday evening, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri reassured that their “march will be peaceful and per the Constitution and aims to enforce the Constitution.

Referring to the Lahore High Court judgement regarding the removal of barricades and containers placed on the routes of the march and around Model Town in Lahore, Qadri said that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab and Federal government have committed contempt of court by not removing the barricades.

Commenting on the statement of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, in which he praised the Punjab police performance of past one week, Qadri said the minister is glorifying the police which has not only besieged the model town, but was also responsible for the disappearance of hundreds of PAT supporters including women and children.

Referring to the death of PAT Punjab vice-president Dr Muhammad Ilyas, Qadri claimed that he died after the police did not allow the ambulance carrying him to leave Model Town.
