SUKKUR:

Many residents of Sukkur are still facing power outages due to a major fault that developed in a heavy duty transformer at the SITE grid station last Thursday.

Sources claim that the power supply to six feeders of the city, including Jeay Shah, Royal Road, Qureshi Road and SITE was suspended on the evening of August 7, due to the fault in a heavy duty transformer with the capacity of 20 to 26 mega watts at SITE grid station.

An official told The Express Tribune that the faulty transformer was sent to the transformer reclamation laboratory in Lahore and they were waiting for technicians to fix the problem.

Sukkur Electric Power Company’s Noor Soomro said the transformer was installed at the SITE grid station in Sukkur in 2006 and that such transformers normally have a life of 25 years.
