'Creative genius': Inventor of car that runs on water goes to court against ‘harassment’
Ahmed said that he has narrowly escaped an attempt on his life, while the Rangers had also illegally detained him
KARACHI:
A man who claimed to have invented a car that runs on water instead of petrol has gone to court against alleged harassment by the provincial government.
Agha Waqar Ahmed, a stenographer in the Sindh police department, named the provincial chief minister's principal secretary, the special assistant, the chief secretary and the provincial chiefs of the police and Rangers as respondents.
In his petition, Ahmed said he had gained fame locally and internationally for having invented a water kit that enables automobiles to run on water instead of petrol, diesel or gas. This has, however, made the high-ranking officials in the province unhappy and they have started victimising him, he claimed.
According to the petitioner, the Sohrab Goth police at the behest of the influential persons have booked him in two false criminal cases. On the basis of this, he was dismissed from service as stenographer, he said. Ahmed said that he has narrowly escaped an attempt on his life, while the Rangers had also illegally detained him to stop from doing any further research in Thar. He claimed that his life and his family members' lives are at risk.
On Monday, the two judges took up the matter and directed Ahmed's lawyer to satisfy the court on the maintainability of the petition. The hearing was adjourned indefinitely.
