Victims of neglect: Folk singers, artists face crisis
Folk singers and other artistes from Sindh rural areas are facing grave financial challenges
KARACHI:
Folk singers and other artistes from Sindh rural areas are facing grave financial challenges and are depressed over the ‘apathetic attitude’ of the Sindh cultural department. “We wrote many letters, held meetings with the relevant officials as well as elected public representatives for necessary plans to save the future of the genuine artistes,” said Sindh Fankar Welfare Association (SFWA) president Abdul Hameed alias Singhar Solangi. He said that the artistes of Sindh are being neglected and are denied their monthly stipend that they had been receiving for a long time.
