In solidarity: Students protest Israeli aggression in Gaza

SIALKOT:

Nearly 150 students and teachers of the Khawaja Safdar Medical College (KSMC) in Sialkot on Saturday staged a protest demonstration against Israel for its occupation of Gaza.

The students also protested against killing of hundreds of people and urged Israel to withdraw its forces.

Participants of the protest expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine.

The rally, which had started from KSMC premises, ended in front of Sialkot Press Club.

The protestors were wearing black armbands.

“I came here to show my solidarity for the Palestinians,” said Rana Mushtaq. “Israeli aggression against the Palestinians should be condemned on all forums.”

“Very few countries stand with Israel on this issue,” he said. “No one will side with aggressors.”

Sana Khan, another protestor, said that at least 1,960 people had died since violence erupted in Gaza in early July.

She said of these, 1,900 were Palestinians, mostly civilians. She said 67 people were killed died on Israeli side, including three civilians.

Khan said it was disappointing that many world leaders had remained silent over the disproportionate use of force by Israeli authorities.

“Today bodies of three Palestinians were pulled from wreckage of a mosque in Gaza,” she said.

“Violence has seeped into homes and places of worship. Ceasefire for two or three is not enough... after it ends, more people are killed.”
