Take the drops: Three-day polio drive to start in Thatta

Health director told that during the upcoming three-day polio drive, 171,914 children will be administered polio drops

A three-day polio drive will start from August 18 throughout the Thatta district.



Thatta deputy commissioner (DC) Agha Shahnawaz Babar has directed the health department to ensure that every child up to the age of five years is administered polio drops. The DC, while presiding over a meeting at Darbar Hall on Friday, directed the relevant departments' officers to take effective measures so that the children of the Thatta district could be saved from this crippling disease.


Health director Dr Zahoor Ahmed Memon told the meeting that during the upcoming three-day polio drive, 171,914 children will be administered polio drops. According to a plan devised to make the drive successful, a total of 441 teams including 363 mobile teams have been formed for 30 union councils that will administer polio drops to children.


The meeting was attended by Thatta assistant commissioner, mukhtiarkars, and representatives from People's Primary Healthcare Initiative, World Health Organisation and other social organisations.
