Robber's six accomplices flee after shooting at police

Police said on Thursday they had killed a robber in a shootout near Chak 615-GB while his six accomplices fled.


City Police Officer Sohaib Habib Tajik said police had received information that seven armed men had robbed a citizen, Shahid Hafeez, near Chak 615-GB.

“A Garh police contingent rushed to the spot and surrounded the robbers. They opened fire when police asked them to surrender,” the CPO told the media. He said one of the robbers, identified as Shahid – a resident of Chak 188-GB Toba Tek Singh – was injured when police returned fire.

He said the other robbers carried Shahid to nearby fields and kept shooting at police.

They later fled leaving Shahid behind. City Police Officer said Shahid later died on the way to hospital. The body has been sent for autopsy.
